KOH LARN - THAILAND'S UNKNOWN BEAUTY
Thailand is another country destination on my favourite tropical paradise list. When we're talking about top islands in Thailand, people usually mention Phuket, Phi Phi Islands, James Bond Island, Koh Samui, or Koh Tao. But what about Koh Larn? I don't know why but not many people actually go here. Some people even never heard of this island. So I would like to dedicate this post to Koh Larn (Ko Lan), which I think is one of the underrated/ unknown island in Thailand.
Koh Larn (also known as Coral Island) is an island located in the Gulf of Thailand, which is just one boat ride away from Pattaya. The view of this island is a winner, with a clear azure sea and a white sand beach, plus the hilly savanna around the island. My sister and I went to this island for a day trip, departing from Bali Hai Pier on Pattaya's main island. We took a GrabRide to Bali Hai Pier from our hotel and bought the boat ticket to Koh Larn at the pier, no need to prebook anything (but before you go make sure you check the schedule). You can either choose fast boat for a faster and more convenient ride (400THB roundtrip) or ferry (60THB roundtrip) for a cheaper option.

Once you get to the island, the easiest transportation on the island is probably to just rent a scooter for a day and you're good to go. There are taxis offered at the harbour as well, but it's kinda hard to find one once you are at the beach. I wouldn't recommend renting a bicycle as the road is pretty hilly and it takes longer time (and energy) for you to go around the island. You can ask for a map at the rental place or just simply use your Google Map to get around. But regardless, the main road is easy to follow and it takes you to Koh Larn's main beaches.
There are six main beaches on the island: Samae, Tien, Tonglang, Tawaen, Nual (Monkey Beach), and Tayiy. The busiest one is probably Tawaen beach, even though the crowd is nothing compared to the crowd at Phi Phi or Phuket. So if you want to spend an easy and relaxing day, Tawaen is probably not your best choice. In each beach, you can nearly do everything from swimming, snorkelling, renting a jet ski, banana boat, and even hiking! So what I would like to suggest is to go around the island and see all the beaches and then finally decide which beach you would like to spend most of your time at.
